My Interest in Syntho:

Syntho stands out to me because of its strong product-market fit within a clearly defined niche. The platform is taught by distinguished artists in the industry and tailored for aspiring producers looking to break into that market. This direct peer-to-peer dynamic creates a sense of authenticity that resonates with users.

While its content is top-tier and its community active, the platform’s current experience presents key friction points in discoverability, collaboration, and structured learning. This redesign proposal identifies those gaps and explores how UI improvements could enhance user experience and unlock new strategic opportunities for Syntho.

Problem Discovery:

When new subscribers log into Syntho, they are faced with a screen that shows a variety of options. This can be disorienting because there are so many different videos to learn. Users need a focused structure in order to really make an impact in their production improvement.

When new subscribers log into Syntho, they are faced with a screen that shows a variety of options. This can be disorienting because there are so many different videos to learn. Users need a focused structure in order to really make an impact in their production improvement.

Decisions Behind This:

I tested these design decisions with real user research by interviewing four people I know who use the app regulary.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

This UI construes information in a way that is much easier to navigate to the user (nav on left, right side dedicated all to content). This reduces information overload on the user and makes for a sounder learning experience.

This UI construes information in a way that is much easier to navigate to the user (nav on left, right side dedicated all to content). This reduces information overload on the user and makes for a sounder learning experience.

Decisions Behind This:

The News Feed now has new abilities to search by keyword, toggle by #topics, and sort by relevance. This significantly increases the UX by giving the user more autonomy over their interests, and not rely on random luck.

The News Feed now has new abilities to search by keyword, toggle by #topics, and sort by relevance. This significantly increases the UX by giving the user more autonomy over their interests, and not rely on random luck.

The News Feed also showcases a "Syntho Top 10". This Syntho Top 10 board is super exciting for a few reasons:

1- This allows users to see which members have the most clout. It would be an interesting and engaging feature that lets members interact with those who are achieving high ranks. It would also allow users to hear, and therefore place a benchmark, on what a number one track by Syntho members sounds like. So this could be helpful for beginner producers to have an ear on what an industry standard track might be.

2- This adds a new dynamism to the brand that makes it more than just an education platform. With the addition of a Top10, there is some friendly competition for members to try and make a track that tops the charts of your "school".

This could make Syntho even more attractive for new and existing subscribers because it adds a differentiating aspect of their company that no other house music platform offers.

This Top10 could change the lives of some Syntho members by introducing them to labels or artists that would give them an opportunity for their music to reach the masses.
